Little Steps, big independence.

Little Steps, big independence.

Welcome to Little Steps Independence.

We’re a Singapore-based consultancy helping parents and caregivers support their children’s journey towards independence.

Why independence matters

    • Lower self-confidence & higher dependency on adults

    • Weaker executive functioning: reduced self-regulation & organisational skills

    • Increased anxiety & reduced academic performance at primary/secondary age

    • Greater family stress — parents feel overwhelmed & helpers unsure how to step back

    • Helpers lovingly step in to assist before the child has a chance to try

    • Time constraints where parents/caregivers balance full schedules & routines

    • The home environment isn’t yet designed for the child’s access & choice

    • Higher levels of self-autonomy

    • Increased confidence and self-esteem

    • Stronger executive functioning

    • Improved self-regulation

Never help a child with a task at which they feel they can succeed

What the grown ups think about us:

“I like Laura’s approach: she is actively listening to our unique situation, preference and aspirations, based on this info, she tailored suggestions that can be organically implemented.”

— Ms Guo

“We immediately implemented everything, now she’s able to wash her hands, pick up her shoes by herself, and we also have fun cleaning up her play area together and prepare food in the kitchen.”

— Mr Quigley
